MOVING TO SAN DIEGO?

Congratulations!  It was a wise decision.  There is no better place on the planet to live than San Diego.  There's always room for one more, especially if you're STAR QUALITY.  Presently, the unemployment rate is low, so there should be plenty of opportunities (especially if you're armed with some good skills).

We receive e-mail from all over the world (some from places we've never heard of) and the number one question is "Can you have a job waiting for me when I arrive?".  Regrettably, the answer is "No".  Here's why:

  • We receive requests for new employees on a daily basis.  More often than not, our clients will need someone to start immediately.   For this reason, it is difficult to forecast our staffing requirements with any degree of accuracy.  We would feel very bad indeed if we were to encourage a move to San Diego for a job that failed to materialize.
  • Reputation means everything at A-Star Staffing.  Our client companies depend upon us to deliver high quality candidates, so we can't put your name into our database until we are sure that you are STAR QUALITY.  To make this determination, we need to have you visit our office to complete paperwork, take tests, and interview.  We'll check your references and if all looks good you'll be ready to go to work.  As you can see, we can't qualify you for work until after you arrive in San Diego.

Here's your MOVING TO SAN DIEGO checklist:

1.  TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOU ARRIVE - Send us your resume by mail, e-mail, fax, or online.  Be sure to provide us with as much information as possible, including your salary history and the salary requirements for your next position.

2.  ONE WEEK BEFORE YOU ARRIVE - Call us to schedule an appointment if we responded to your resume submittal and indicated that we might be able to help you.  At this time we may be able to tell you what types of jobs are available.

3.  ON THE DAY YOU ARRIVE IN SAN DIEGO - Call the folks back home, go to the beach, go to Sea World and the Zoo, eat some real Mexican food, drink a few Taquizas or Coronas, listen to some Buffett music,  (It's important to take some time to adjust to the environment).

4.  ON THE DAY OF YOUR A-STAR APPOINTMENT - Dress as you would in the workplace, be on time, smile, and remember that the interview begins when you walk through the door  (Oh yeah, RELAX! We're nice people. You're gonna like it here!)
